Thorndale-Atglen Extension (Amtrak Harrisburg Line)

Atglen Rail Service - PA-TEC Proposal

Project Description: PA-TEC proposes the resumption of passenger rail service at Atglen Station with service provided by Amtrak only. Atglen Borough and Chester County will supply funding to build a station facility scaled to the demand expected by the local population. Current FTA requirements do not demand high level platforms. ADA access can be acheived through wood, steel or concrete mini-high platforms for wheelchairs.

PA-TEC recommends simple station design, such as the Whitford Train station. Atglen Borough may also choose to assume the costs of maintaining the station and/or outsourcing use of the facility, such as leasing to a Wawa or Starbucks franchise.
